This evening I went to see Japan play Cameroon at BC Place in Vancouver. The game was one of the matches in Group C of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup and was played in front of a crowd of around 30,000. Japan won 2-1 but Cameroon looked very impressive and if they are allowed to play higher-ranked teams on a consistent basis, they will surely be challenging for honours at the 2019 World Cup. Player to watch – number 17 Gaelle ENGANAMOUIT – a very direct and physical striker, who in the game I saw, should have equalised with a header in time added on. Cameroon will probably qualify for the last 16 of this tournament, as they will be a handful for the Swiss in their last group game.
