Last Thursday, October 8th I went to see a theatrical event entitled Golem at the Home arts centre in Manchester. I call this an event because Golem is not a play; Golem combines animation with live music and live performances by the actors. Golem is entrancing and I can’t recall becoming so lost in a production and marvelling so much at what my eyes are showing me. The story concerns what happens to people when technology begins to take over their lives and renders them less able to live their lives as they previously did. The original Golem does the hoovering when you are asleep and then watches the TV, The Golem 2 is smaller, but does the work ten times faster and also makes suggestions as to how it can improve your life. And then there is the Golem 3…

The acting is superb and the physical comedy is a joy to behold, even to the extent of simulating walking to work whilst standing still as the animation of the streets plays behind the actor.

Go and see this event whilst you can.
