Travel 2016 – Tip 23 – Hotels in Carcassonne

I stayed in two hotels in Carcassonne, the Cerise Carcassonne Sud and the Montmorency.

The Cerise is about a kilometre away from the Narbonne gate of La Cite and it takes about 7 minutes to get there. The Cerise is a series of apartments with a kitchen in each, so you can go self-catering if you wish. The place closes at 8pm and after that time access is via a security gate and you have to enter a code for the gate to open. The place was very quiet when I was there and I couldn’t fault the place.

The Montmorency is about 300 metres from the Narbonne gate and when you have breakfast you have an uninterrupted view of Carcassonne’s eastern walls. The hotel is quiet, but you can still hear people in the next room talking, so the walls aren’t that well sound-proofed.
