I went to the Spice Bazaar after visiting the Suleymaniye Mosque – I think I was a bit ‘mosqued out’ as it were – and it was a wonderful visit – if you stop for a second to take a
picture you can get pounced on and if you do want to buy anything you really need to know how much it would cost elsewhere. I’d taken a picture of some lamps and then the stallholder of the place where I was standing walked up to me.
“That will be twenty Lira.”
“Really – why is that?” I replied.
“You were standing on my property when you took that picture.”
“That’s a lot of money; I don’t have much money,” I laughed.
