Lincoln has a cathedral that can be seen from miles away. Reaching the cathedral and its environs from the city centre means walking up the accurately named “Steep Hill”. The shops lining this street indicate a well-healed population. Tailors, antiquarian booksellers, and high-class souvenir shops plus a string of coffee shops, brasseries, restaurants, and pubs show plenty of tourists come here to see not only the cathedral but the castle, the bishop’s palace and the lovely houses along Pottergate.
