If you are looking for a traditional Viennese cafe, I would recommend Cafe Drechsler largely because it is close to the Secession and about 10 minutes from Karlsplatz with all its sights. The cafe was remodelled by Conran & Partners and re-opened in 2007. The cafe does not accept credit cards and the staff do speak some English. I had a delicious cafe latte and a Topfenstrudel – a type of fresh cheese of Central European origin usually translated as “curd cheese” or Quark. This really hit the spot with the temperatures 33 degrees C outside.
