Autumn Travel – Day 8 – Lake Geneva

For a great trip around the Swiss towns on the lake, I’d recommend catching a CGN boat from Lausanne that visits places such as Vevey, Montreux, and Chillon Castle. The boat heads southwards from Lausanne to St Gingolph, on the border of France and Switzerland, and then works its way around the eastern shore of the lake, taking around three-and-a-half hours to sail back to Lausanne. CGN have steam-powered boats too which are paddle wheelers and visitors can see the engines at work by looking down an inspection shaft.

The ferry quays are about two hundred yards to the left of the exit of the Lausanne-Ouchy metro, which is four stops southwards from the central station on Metro Line 2.

In Ouchy, the Olympic Museum is another three hundred yards further along the shore of the lake from the ferry quays.
