Lindau is at the opposite end of The Bodensee from Konstanz and to get between the two places on the train, I had to travel via St Gallen in Switzerland and pass through Bregenz in Austria.
Lindau is a lovely place with a number of ornate towers where the roof tiles are in different primary colours. There’s a Protestant church side-by-side with a Catholic church both opposite a town museum that hosts art exhibitions of work by world-class artists such as Picasso.
There’s also a puppet theatre whose new opera season starts tomorrow and I’ve bought a ticket to see The Magic Flute. This will be an interesting experience for me.
If puppet opera is not your glass of schnapps, then there are many cruise excursions on the lake which are extremely popular judging by the crowds of people in the harbour area.
