Travel Writing and Book Reviews

Bregenz is in Austria and is the only Austrian town / city on The Bodensee. It was a wrench to leave Lindau and I’m trying to work out how I can go back there as soon as possible. Lindau isn’t straightforward to get to on public transport, but catching the train from Munich would probably be easiest.

In Bregenz, I left my suitcase at the hotel and walked to the Pfanderbahn cable car. The journey up is to the cable car station on the Pfanderspitze. It only takes five minutes and then you have wonderful views over the Bodensee as well the valleys of the Vorarlberg. I saw the scallop shell on a sign to the summit of the Pfanderspitze. This means there’s a ‘Way of St James’ or Camino passing this way and I am wondering where it started? I know one of the many caminos starts in Poland, so I’m wondering whether it’s this one?

There are many paths starting at the cable car station and there are many signposts to various places. There’s also a wildlife sanctuary where I saw deer and marmots.
