Another long train journey, direct from Lugano to Vicenza on a Sunday, via Milan where most people got off, with a final destination of Venice.
On Sunday, Vicenza’s old town was full with a massive flea market attended by many people looking for that bargain purchase. There were some lovely glassware items but there’s not a chance they’d survive the rest of the trip.
I went in the other direction, up the hill behind the train station to Monte Berico, using the porticoes that extend for perhaps a quarter of a mile. It was like being in Bologna’s old town except these marble marvels go uphill. It was the cool option to take on a hot, sunny afternoon.
