The end of the line in Italy as Slovenia is only a few miles away. No trains from the central station in Trieste head to the former Yugoslavia, in fact the only train to a non-Italian destination is to Vienna
Trieste was full as there’d been a running event in the city and a lot of roads were closed. After I’d left my bags at the hotel, I had a look around the central parts of the city including the Canal Grande (as per the image) and I found the James Joyce museum too.
